OTTAMTHULLAL

                    Thullal , the ancient temple art of Kerala was founded by great ancient poet Kunchan Nambyar. I have been performing Thullal , the indigenous art of Kerala since 2000. It is said to have first performed to moke an srtist of another temple art Chakyar Kooth, which is the part of Koodiyattam.Koodiyattam is recognised as heritage art of India by UNESCO. Many genious had worked hard to make this art popularise, like Malabar Ramannair. And I politly , but proudly claim , that i am also one of the last links so far, to bring this art to the heart of layman.

                    

                       In Thullal ,a solo performer acts and dances while reciting the Thullal lyrics.Our former Prime Minister Javaharlal  Nehru remarked" Thullal is poor man's Kadhakali" Ottamthullal is an indigenous art which equaly please all kinds of audiences both literates amd illiterates.In Thullal old sayings proverbs and elements of folklore were used meaningfully. The satirical nature of the work invited audiences to involve in the performance.

                       Since I found thullal as a most powerful communicative art ,I persuaded in performing it. My performances vary from demonstrations, teaching, and stage performances to some aesthetic experiments.
